New Companion: Sis. Hoffmeier (from Maryland)
Hello all!!
Well yet another speedy week in the mission field! Monday morning I found out I was being transferred. (not gonna lie, pretty excited about that) So we went home, I packed and then we went and visited with some of our investigators and less actives. We visited with the Collins (less actives) and fed some baby alligators by their home (ok crazy!). Then we went and visited with Carrie, Kaleigh, and Morgan (our investigators) so I could say goodbye. (now that was sad! this is the hard part about transfers, because I love these ladies!) Kaleigh said that she didn't want to take the lessons anymore if I'm not going to be there :( ...she was serious! After I bore my testimony, my love for the Savior and also my love for her. I also told her the gospel wasn't ME, but the perfect teachings of Christ... I think I convinced her to keep going :) whewwww- ok the spirit convinced her.
Tuesday we drove to a chapel in Orlando and met our new companions! My Comp is Sister Hoffmeier, she is from Maryland and has been out 5 months. When I first met her she was nice but very quiet. I thought uh oh, why always the quiet ones?? whyyyyyyyy?? haha Now I know that she is not so quiet! We have so much fun together! I can now see all this missionary fun that everyone keeps talking about!
We unloaded and loaded our stuff back up. The area we are in (new to both of us), which had the Elders and a senior missionary couple, has been split in two to accommodate all of us. So we (the senior couple and our companionship) are called the North Conway area and the Elders are South Conway.
The Bevans (the senior missionary couple) are amazing! They were there at the chapel to pick us up, we ran over to the mission office to get my packages. (Mom and Aunt Kris THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!! Those packages made my day!! They were just what I needed! I love you both so much! I don't know what I would do without you!) Then we went to our apartment. It is beautiful! The members did a beautiful job furnishing this place!! It is bran new! After grabbing some shopping needs at the local Walmart, we went home, unpacked, and then the Bevan's called us and said, "we will be there at 6:00 to take you to dinner." I was like...no way!!!!!!! I am REALLY gonna love this area! ha ha We went to Steak and Shake!
The Bevans are so much fun!! We had a blast at dinner just chatting with them about the area and ward members and different things. Sister Bevans did costumes for the theatre in their hometown so they both love theatre which is awesome! Before dinner though, Sis. Hoffmeier and I rode our bikes around the area to get a feel for it. Man did my bum KILL!!!
Wednesday we had District meeting, which was so fun! We have a great district! Riding our bikes this day was even worst than the day before! It felt like I was sitting on a giant bruise! Not fun. If it had a title for this email it would be The Bum Diaries/ Did anybody order lobster? (you'll see why later) hahaha We ran to a members home that day. Her name is Sister Forseburg and we knocked on the door and a voice said, "who is it?" We said, the Sister Missionaries! and She said, "oh! ok!" She opened the door and said, "Did the Elders tell you?? We answer our door with our guns." .....No joke! I looked down and she had a hand gun in her hand. I about lost it. And then in their house there is a picture of what I am assuming was her family in front of the white house with guns in everyone's hand. It was pretty funny. I'm pretty sure the picture was photo-shopped. haha.
Wednesday nights they have a scripture study class that the missionaries teach at the church and after they had Sister Hoffmeier and me stand up and introduce ourselves. After I sat down Elder Bevan's said, "now this sister has personality to burn!" haha I thought that was funny...hummm what did he mean??? jk
Thursday we met an investigator and her family. 2 of her kids are members and she is just waiting to get married to her boyfriend so she can be baptized. They are an amazing family! I can't wait to continue working with her and her boyfriend.
Friday we met a man who told us that "there is no such thing as Jesus Christ". It was sad, he is a vietnam war veteran and we could tell he had a rough life. But it was a little funny because after he said that Sister Hoffmeier just looked at him and said, "Yes there is!" hahaha She is awesome! That day for lunch, we don't have pots and pans yet but we wanted grilled cheese. So I pulled out the pizza pan we do have and set it on the stove and used it! It worked like a champ! We are so inventive! hahaha
Saturday was a big riding day! But I will say I am getting the hang of the bike. I am starting to enjoy it more. We found 3 new investigators (not a kidding you!!!!! this area is open and ready!), so we are excited to teach them again this week! I made the dumb decision to not put on sun screen and my arms were so red! I had lobster arms! Learned my lesson!
Sunday we met most of the members at church. The bishop invited us over for dinner last night and they made mexican food. It was so good! Some of the best mexican food I have ever had! and of course talking to the fam was amazing! I am so excited for this transfer! It is going to be a great one! Well I love all of you! The church is true!
Love, Sister Forsey
Mom- Sister Peck is still in Ellsworth and I could write her a letter and she could write me one but I barely have enough time as it is haha. Could you also send any of the other skirts that might have worked? They may work better on the bikes. My dark purple skirt got caught on the brakes this week, so I'm gonna try the other ones. Also could you send the One Smooth Stone DVD? I want to show the Bevans :) Also, some short sleeved shirts from my closet that could work would be so appreciated! And I would buy them but I don't think we will be making a trip to the garment store here anytime soon. Some Dri- Silk Garments size 32 Tall Bottoms like 4 or 5 would be wonderful! Thank you so much for everything mom! I don't know what I would do without you! Seriously! Sorry if I missed any other questions I'm gonna have to print out your email and read the rest after. I love you, I love you, I love you!!!!!
