Hello all!
Alrighty then about my week! Monday after emailing we went to Target!! YAY! haha I love Target! The one here is HUGE!! It was fun to look around a bit. Later that evening we went tracting and found 4 new Potential investigators!! It was great! we are going to follow up with them this week. We also met a less active brother named Brother Rivas. We sat and chatted with him for a while and he told us how he just wanted to be closer with God and would do anything to have that. Well we were a little surprised to hear that because he is a member and has all the tools to do so. So we just testified of the Book of Mormon and how it would bring anyone closer to God who would read it. I think he has the desire but just doesn't want to do the work.
Tuesday we had District Meeting and I gave my very first training to the District on How to Begin Teaching, which was perfect for me! Mom- remember when I told you that I should just be the person to break the ice and then my companion can just come in with the spiritual stuff?? haha Well basically that's what the training was on. Just talking to them! Get to know them, let them know how much you care! I thought it went really well. Through out the rest of that day we just met with some less actives.
Wednesday we were out visiting some members and we were waiting outside of the gated community they lived in and we said," ok lets wait for 5 min. for a car." Within a few minutes a car came and let us in. After visiting with the member, we drove out of the gated community and headed down the road to another member. Lo and behold the next member lived in the same gated community just furthur down the road. So we had to wait AGAIN to be let in. We waited 5 min. and no luck finally I just said "Heavenly Father please send someone home so we can get in!" As soon as I finished saying that out loud, a car drove around the corner and went into the complex opening the gate! It was awesome! Ask and ye shall receive!! haha
We also met with a potential investigator named Teressa, she is a sweet 60 year old black woman who doesn't look 60 at all! Like you would not guess in a million years she is that old! We taught her the restoration and she enjoyed it! It went well.
Then we met a very nice man from New Jersey named Joe. He was born and raised in the Catholic Church. He is so funny! He was sitting outside on his porch when we went up to him and we said Hi! We are missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and he said in a thick New Jersey accent," Great! Bless my leg!" haha He had just had a knee replacement. So we said a prayer with him and set up a time to come back. While talking with him we asked him what he liked about his church and he said, " I like the pastor, he always tells a joke." So I told him a joke. He loved it. It was great!
President Hall sent one of the missionary couples down to our apartment with a seat cushion for my bike seat. (because I thought I might have a problem with that pilonidal cyst again, but we're good now!) Which was so sweet! I told them thank you so much! But that I had bought a HUGE bike seat on Monday. We also had the scripture study class that night and we taught about Prophets. It was great!
Thursday we had the opportunity to go to the temple grounds and do some service! We went and pulled some weeds. The crew of brothren there are so funny! They also made us all lunch. Later that day We met a woman named Chanel she is so sweet! and interested in learning more so we will meet with her this week. Awesome, awesome!
We had Dinner with Dianna that night as well. She is an investigator of the Elders. She told us that her and her boyfriend are getting married this upcoming Saturday and she is getting baptized on Sunday!! Which is awesome!! She has been investigating the church for 3 years. and 3 of her kids are baptized. It is awesome! We are so excited for her!
Friday we went and did some service at an elementary school. An Eagle scout in one of the wards here was doing his scout project. He built all the games and set up a big carnival for the 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. It was so fun! We got to be in charge of the games and help the kids with those. After that we went and visited some members with the Bevans. After Dinner we were so sore/exhausted!! We just did weekly planning.
Saturday we had our lesson with Joe. We rode around the corner and there he was on his front porch! He saw us and said, "There are the Sistas!" and then he told us a joke. haha he is a funny guy. We shared a scripture with him and set up another appt. We then ran to the Forseburgs. Sister Forseburg was in the hospital the other day (she fainted at work), so we wanted to check in with her and see how she was doing. After Sister Forsburg we went and had a lesson with Teressa. We are not sure if she is fully there mentally. She didnt remember anything about our last lesson and she couldn't recall almost anything that we just had read. And she couldn't really tell us anything about what her thoughts were or her feelings. So we will see what happens.
Saturday night we had our coordination meeting with the ward mission leader and the Elders. After the meeting, the Elders said, "we gotta run to the store to get some candy to keep a little boy quiet during Sacrament meeting." Sister Hoffmeier and I said to them jokingly, "Well, get us some Snickers!!" Later, when they brought us some pots and pans from a member, they gave us this huge bag of fun size snicker candy. haha They are reallly sweet. We just laughed!
Sunday Sister Hoffmeier and I taught the Gospel Principles class. For dinner last night we went to the Little's home. They just recently lost their son. He was born with 1/3 of his brain and the Dr. said he wouldn't live past 12 months and he lived for 24 years! They had such a powerful testimony of the plan of salvation. It was neat to hear their testimonies and get to know them.
Later that night we went and vistied the Nsabumana family. They are from Kenya and speak Swaheley? haha Anyway they have 4 kids and we had their 11 and 13 yr. old boys translate. Needless to say, it was a short visit. hahaha But today is Sis. Hoffmeier's Birthday!! We are gonna go to the park and play some sports with the elders in our district! It will be fun!
Well that should be it for now. Until next week! The Church is true, the book is blue and it's just for you, and your family too!! :D
Love you all! - Sister Forsey
Mom- I am so glad you like the necklace and earrings and it sounds like you had an awesome birthday! I am so relieved! hahaha Could you send me Allison Craigie's Address? or ask her for it? I have a letter for them but no address. Also, Did my tax return come? Do you know how much it will be? I didn't read all of your letter so I may send you another little note :D I just love you so much and am so grateful for you!
Mom and Dad- I am so sorry this whole cyst thing has like blown up! I didn't realize it was this big of a deal. I think I am going to be fine though. It has been sore but If it was getting infected again it would hurt A LOT more than it does. I went and bought a huge, soft bike seat and it has helped a lot! I will definitely keep an eye on it. I called Sister Hall and told her the same thing and hopefully she won't worry anymore. I think soreness is gonna happen but I will keep it dry.
Mom- could you send me some Dri Silk Garment bottems size 32? Those breath A LOT more than the Carenessa's. I only have one pair and I can only wear it one day. That would really help I think.
Kim- Could you Please get on pinterest and pull off some updo ideas for my hair? I am running out! and boy is it getting humid and hot!! So up goes my hair every day. Thank you! Love you!
