MTC - Provo, Utah
Companion- Sis. Payne
Hey Fam Bam!
Whelp it has been an amazing three days here at the MTC. After you dropped me off I was taken to many points where i was given lots of things and greeted by many sisters. Then a sister took me to my room to drop off luggage and then straight to my classroom. And So the Journey Begins!!
We went around the room and got to know our District a little bit as well as our teachers. And of course we met our Companions!! WOOO! My companion is Sister Payne she is so nice and bubbly and energetic just like me! haha I think we make a great pair! One of the Elders asked us this morning "How can you sisters be so happy all the time?" we just laughed haha. Then we were taken to a Welcome meeting with the President of the MTC and one of his counselors and their wives. It was a great meeting! We sang Called to Serve and all I can say is WOW!! It is so amazing to be in this huge place with so many young people wanting to serve the Lord. The spirit here is so awesome! Everyone loves you like EVERYONE, they don't even know you but they love you! The love just radiates!
There was a musical number of love one another in the welcome meeting with a piano and a cello....GOOSEBUMPS! Then we had Dinner, the food here is pretty good! I have no complaints so far! I love that they have really good salads and fresh fruit all the time! I have one or the other every meal! It's awesome!
Then we were taken to a room for what's called a teaching experience. There was a potential investigator and the missionaries came in and started the convo with the first one (like a play). His name was Chicho. He was Italian and lost his wife and son. So the missionaries started and then the teacher had them leave and us as a group (80 new missionaries) try to teach Chicho. Needless to say we were horrible haha.
The next investigator was Japanese and we were even worst in that one. He just didn't really care what we had to say. The last investigator was named Barbara from New Jersey! She was so funny and a sweet heart. So the missionaries in the room started to talk to her but I could tell she was just confused because they just started to shove things down her throat (a little dramatic I know) but that's what I felt like for her. So I raised my hand and just started to talk to her about New Jersey and about her family to get to know her better so I could see what direction we needed to take with her. But after I got done talking about New Jersey my mind went blank and I was like "Help!" haha! To make a long story short (too late) we were all humbled by that experience. We are not as prepared and awesome as we think we are haha!
Then we went to bed. There are six sisters (a record) and five Elders in our District. So all six of us are in one room. Yes you read that right Six sisters, 3 bunk beds, 12 cases of luggage, and a partridge in a pear tree. I do think though having us in there so tight brought us that much closer. The Sister and Elders in my district are already like family, we do everything together. We have some great missionaries in this group!
Thursday we met our Mission President. President Baker and his wife and one of his counselors each spoke to us. Thursday and Friday were more of the same sit, study, eat, study, sleep. haha!
Yesterday Sister Payne and I taught our first investigator. (she is really our teacher pretending to be an investigator) They call them Role plays but I call them real plays haha She is looking for a good church and went to church with her friend Chuck and now is meeting with us. We taught her about the restoration and the great apostasy and she is getting Baptized on April 15th! BOOM just like that! Man we are good! haha just kidding we still have a lot of work to do!
