YSA Ward...WHHHHHAAAAAAAATTTTTT?????????
Hello Family and friends!
Wowza! What a week it has been! Last Monday we were running around like chickens with our heads cut off trying to get everything done! We stopped by some members houses to say goodbye. One of the members made me her famous Chocolate Cake. A personal one just for me to take with me how sweet was that?! The rest of the night was filled with visits and packing. I really will miss Clermont and the people there. They have been very good to me.
Tuesday we woke up at 5 am. Woof! ( like in Home Alone, Buzz your girlfriend! Woof!) haha sweet Sister Byron took us to transfers. Let me tell you it was a miracle to be able to fit everything in her little car but it was done. We had to be at the chapel at 7:45 for Sister Ackley to be there at the trainers meeting. And the transfer meeting didn't start until 11. So I was like saweet I can just sit and relax, maybe get some studying in and then they pulled all of the companions of those training, in for a meeting. It was basically a two hour district meeting. Woof! Haha that early?? I was not happy. But what can you do?
So finally the transfer meeting started and Pres. read off the transfer lists. Drum roll............. I got sent to white wash College Park YSA! ( white wash is when both of the previous missionaries serving there get transferred/ YSA stands for Young Single Adult, ages 17 - 31) My new companion is Sister Stratman ( no I don't think she is related to Nichole, i asked) she is from Minnesota don't ya know haha and no she doesn't have an accent (sad day) she has 3 Siblings and she is number 2. She is. 23, and She has been out for 6 months. She is so awesome! Super chill and easy going. And she loves music and movies. ( Cam I found your wife! Look no further!)
So. We loaded up our stuff into the members car (another miracle) haha and we get to our apartment and we are both like uhhhhhh what do we do??? We have both never served in a YSA ward. We didn't really know what our area covers. We didn't have the car because the Elders had it. We were like well I guess we can just start to unpack. So the rest of the day was just unpacking and shopping. And a little bit of freaking out. We were like why are we here?? We have no idea how to talk to people our age! Haha
Wednesday was crazy too! We cover about 5 areas. We got the car from the Elders and went and visited some members. The first people we met were some returning members and they are so awesome! We taught about the Book of Mormon and how we need to study it everyday so we can gain a testimony of it. We also saw some other members and just got to know the area better.
Thursday was really crazy too. Transfers just exhaust me! We were making some calls and I was leaving a message to a potential investigator and I was like closing my eyes because I was so tired and then all of the sudden I just say "I love, and I say these things.... Oh my gosh...... We'll talk to you later bye) hahaha I started to say a prayer in the middle of the message! Oh how embarrassing! It was pretty funny!
On Friday we spent the day weekly planning... Seriously all day. We did get a cool referral named T. We taught him and he said he would like to learn more so we will see him this week. We had one dinner this week with a member. We met the guy at a restaurant named Jimmy Hulas and I gotta say it was WEIRD. Haha I don't think I'll ever get used to that.(I'm talking a YSA guy taking us Sisters out to dinner...yep pretty weird, you gots to remember, I haven't talked to any guys my age for a year and 3 months!) But it was SO very nice of him to feed us. OK, so member meals are scarce in a YSA ward. I mean, we are starving missionaries, but they are mostly starving students. So what do ya do.... you BUDGET SIS FORSEY, YOU BUDGET. OK, now I really gotta learn to budget and coupon! please pray for me! Haha
Saturday was pretty full of planning too. The Elders who were in the area left the map book and area book in the car that had to be fixed. So we had to start from square one.
Sunday was good though. The Bishop is awesome! He is so missionary minded and really wants the ward to get to know us. It was funny, he asked us to introduce ourselves in sacrament meeting, so we went up and bore our testimonies and after this guy comes up to me and said that he really liked my testimony and my spirit......ummmm thank you???????? Haha it is so weird to get compliments as a sister missionary from a guy your own age. This is going to be an interesting few transfers. I think The Lord is preparing me to go home. He is easing me into it.
One thing that was really cool that happened was we had a phone lesson with a recent convert Sunday night and after she texted us and thanked us, she said that before she talked with us she was really stressing out but now she feels so much peace. I love it when that happens! The gospel of Jesus Christ is here to bring us peace in our life.
I am excited to see what this next week brings. Thank you for all your love and prayers.
Grandpa Traylor! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! LOVE YOUUU!!
Well I'll talk to you all next week!
Love, Sister Forsey
