Hello everyone!
Well last Monday after we emailed we went to this cute historic district of Longwood which is in our area. There were a few Consignment Boutiques. It was really fun. One store there is in a house and they call it the 'Inside outside house'. It was brought down here from Boston and when they put it back together, they put the inside outside... on accident of course. But it's a fun little area (Mom you bet I'm bringing you back here! You would LOVE it!) Then we saw some potentials and had a lesson with a referral from a ward member. His name is Gin. He wasn't very interested.
Tuesday we had Zone Conference! It was so much fun. I got to see Sister Pitts! I just love that sister! She is so much fun, one day we will be companions, one day. But it was a great meeting, they talked alot about health and fitness and taking care of ourselves. But there was also training on positive attitudes, charity, and working with members. Like I said, It was a wonderful conference!
Then we had dinner with the Giffin family. Sister Giffin is a Justesen. So I met all her family while serving on the ranch. It was a fun dinner, I just love the Giffin's!
Wednesday we met some Less Acitves, one of them, Sis. W. She was so funny. She works for ESPN as a sound tech so she works weekends. But I think it's more than that, she may be struggling with her testimony of the Book of Mormon. But we are trying the best we can to help her regain that testimony! It's funny I can feel myself getting bolder with people. I'll say something and then in my mind I'm like, "did I really just say that?" haha It's neat.
Then we had a lesson with one of the ward missionaries. Once we got there, there was a huge lightning storm and we were on bikes (good timing) it didn't stop for a while. After we taught Bro. Chevrier, we helped his mom with some cleaning around the house to avoid getting struck by lighting. After the storm passed we went knocking and met a nice man named Dale, who came out and said, "I've been to your church and you have no chance". We politely said alright and went on our way. The next house a woman named Tara opened the door and invited us in immediately. I love it when that happens. She was so nice! We got her number and are going to call her to set up an appointment.
When we walked out of the house Dale was outside and said,"Hey I've been looking for you". Then he just apologized for being rude and explained why we had no chance haha. He was nice I hope he receives the blessings of the fullness of the gospel one day. Then we had dinner with a Part member family. It was a nice dinner.
Thursday we went with the Casablanca Jr. Family to lunch. They took us to this Mexican food place called Tijuana Flats SO GOOD! If you have one near you... go. I was talking to sis. Casablanca and found out she loves the tv show Ghost Hunters. I died! haha We talked about Ghost Hunters for the next 20 min. We decided after my mission we are gonna go together to the Penitentiary in Philly that the Ghost Hunters team went to. I love the Casablanca's they are so much fun!
When we got home there was another lightning storm so that equaled more study time. That night we saw some members and met with the Welch family and reviewed some of the lessons for Angelique and Miraim to be baptized on Saturday (you'll remember them from my last letter). The funny thing is I fasted and prayed this month for a baptism and the Lord just dropped one in my lap. haha. I am so grateful for prayer.
Friday we had weekly planning and then we went and mowed Gin's lawn. The same Gin we met on Tuesday, we offered it to him and he said,"yea come by anytime" so we went and did that. I don't think he really believed we would do it. When he got home and saw what we had done, he texted us and was so grateful! He invited us over for dinner on Tues. Charity NEVER faileth!
Then we had dinner with the Casablanca Sr. Family. Bro. and Sis. Casablanca served a mission as a senior couple in south America for 18 months and at the end of their mission they were called as mission presidents over one of the missions in Colombia. It was fun to hear some stories from their 4 1/2 year service as missionaries.
Saturday we had coordination meeting, saw some Less Actives, got drenched in the rain, had dinner with some members. We had an appointment that night, but it was cancelled. So we were on our way to see a Less Active and we saw a very Pregnant (she was due last Friday) Sis. Mogihmi from the ward chasing one of her children down the rode. We stopped and asked if we could do anything for her. She had us come in and we swept through her dining room, front room, and kitchen and cleaned them all up. She was so appreciative. I could tell she was exhausted.
It is so important for us missionaries to get to know the members and to build trust with them and to serve them. It was a fun night.
Sunday we had meeting after meeting after meeting. It was a fun day though. We got to see a Less active family and share a message with them. The spirit was really strong. So all in all it was a good week! Today we have our district Pday. I'll let you know how that goes next week!
