Week of SOOOO COOL!
Well this week has been full of miracles!! Last Monday night we had a lesson with J. We talked about the spirit and how it speaks to us. The last time we met with him we invited him to pray about a Baptismal Date. So on Monday night we were talking and he said that he didn't want to set a date because it makes him really stressed and worried about all the stuff he needs to do in order to be baptized. We talked about why we want him to set a date and he understood it but wasn't really convinced. Then Pres. Lofthouse (the Elder's Quorum Pres), who's home we were having the lesson at, said, "Well I think if you set a date it shows Heavenly Father that you are committed to him and he will help you accomplish whatever it is that you need to do." Then J just looked at us and said." Okay I will pray about it" It was awesome!!
We had Zone Conference on Tuesday and I woke up super sick. Bleh. But it was a really great conference!! President Berry spoke and some of the other leaders. It was great! Then through out the week we went tracting and found a new investigator!! Whoo hoo! Her name is D. She told us that she just has faith in God and prays but has a hard time understanding the Bible. So we shared a scripture with her on prayer (Alma 37:36-37) out of the Book of Mormon and when we were done... she said, Now THAT I can understand!! So we will see her this next Saturday.
THEN after we went tracting on D's street I was thinking a lot about this street we had started the day before but didn't finish. So we went there and we were walking and then R, one of our potentials came up and said," Hi Sisters!!!" We started talking with him and he said, " I am still reading the Book of Mormon and I am almost done and when I am, I will give you a call." We told him that he didn't have to finish it in order for us to keep teaching him and he said, I know but I want too. SO AWESOME!! HE took the initiative to came and talked with US. It was SOOO cool.
Then a funny thing happened on that same street we were on. We walked up to a door and saw this lady through a window in the door and she saw us and just started laughing hysterically! We were like "Whhhhaaaattt theeee???" She was still laughing and we just were smiling so big because we were trying not to laugh. Then she answered the door (still laughing) and her husband came behind her and kind of pushed her out of the way. We started to tell him who we were and she was still laughing, so he just turned around and said, "Shut up Pat!" It was so funny! We almost lost it! Ohhhhhh good times, good times.
So Yesterday was miracle filled!!! J came to church and told us that he had been praying and April 19th kept coming to mind! Sweet!!! So that was amazing then a former investigator just showed up to church out of the blue!! How did that happen? Again...SOOO COOL.
And I gave a talk yesterday all about Fasting and praying in missionary Work. Also, about the spiritual strength we get from fasting and praying. I first focused on Prayer and how we NEED to start our fasts with a prayer and what it means to truly fast and a few miracles I have seen from fasting. I loved a talk I read by Howard W. Hunter called "Fast Day", (CLICK HERE TO READ) it is in the 1985 Ensign. it was really good! Check it out! I got a lot of compliments on my talk, and then Elder Forrest also spoke yesterday and then in our nightly 'call in' he told me that he got more compliments on my talk than he did for his own! HA! Kiss my Ring (that was for Uncle Tom)!! So funny!
Well That's all for this week. I Love you all and hope you have an amazing week!
Love, Sister Forsey
