Jenni got to the Salt Lake Airport this morning at 7:30 and checked in without any issues (or having to pay any extra for her bags!) thank goodness. My sister, Kris and my brother David, who both work at the airport were able to go through the gate with her to where she would catch her flight.
They were able to visit with her for a couple of hours before she left. (thanks Dave & Kris!). Kris bought donuts for all the missionaries leaving (The missionaries have a new hero...Kris Brower!) with Jenni and also gave Jen her phone so that she could talk to us as long as she wanted! YES! We were able to talk for an HOUR! Sooooo fun!
Jenni sounds so great. She told us that the 2nd day that she was in the MTC, she and her companion were called as the SISTER COORDINATORS (same thing as the District Leader, except for the girls). Just her ticket! Jenn got to mother all the sisters in her district while in the MTC, also was able to play hostess to the newbies that came in to the MTC last Wednesday. She was also in charge of making sure the sister missionaries in her district all got checked into the airport for their flight. She was a little mother hen while at the airport...ha ha- well of course she was. The Lord knows Jenni!!!!! She was in her element!
She sends her love to ALL OF YOU! And thanks for all the letters!! She said that with her extra duties, she hardly had any extra time before lights were out each night. So she asked to please apologize--she will get you a letter eventually. But the letters carried her through the MTC, which she loved! So THANK YOU!
While we were talking to her, we started hearing screams...then Jenni saying, "Shut up...NO WAY!" It was our dear friends, Ann Watts & her daughter Paige...they were also headed to Florida for a vacation and on the SAME flight!!! How could that happen? Awesome.
OK, I'll be honest, this mom was a teeny bit jealous of my brother, sister & friends who got to hang out with Jenni for a little while this morning. But I so appreciate the Lord for having great family & friends to ease her leaving.
What a morning! Love you all!
